Harsco Announces Planned CEO Succession

HARRISBURG, Pa., Aug. 13, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- The Board of Harsco Corporation (NYSE:HSC) today announced the retirement of Derek C. Hathaway as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Harsco, fully effective after the April 2008 Annual Meeting of Stockholders.

Salvatore D. Fazzolari, who currently serves as President, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer, will succeed Mr. Hathaway as Chief Executive Officer effective January 1, 2008. Additionally, and in accordance with Harsco's current Governance model, it is expected that Mr. Fazzolari will be elected Chairman upon Mr. Hathaway's retirement from the Board in April 2008.

Oak Tree Road parade marks India's 60th

The drumbeat of dhols and the aroma of freshly fried samosas should lead any Indophile today to Oak Tree Road's "Little India" strip, which spans Edison and Woodbridge, for the fourth annual India Day Parade.

Organizers expect a crowd of up to 15,000 from around the region to take part in the festivities, as Indian-Americans celebrate the anniversary of their country's independence from Britain in 1947.

"The whole Oak Tree Road is like a festival," said Mahesh Shah, who has headed the parade in past years. "People are eating, singing and happy. People can enjoy. It's like we are right back in our country."

This year's parade will feature a color guard and more than 20 floats, said Satish Poondi, spokesman for the Indian Business Association, which is organizing the event.


Stung by the beekeeping bug

MACKINAW -- As scientists ponder why honey bees are dying in at least 35 states, things are still buzzing around beekeeper Steve Mayes.Mayes, 58, has hundreds of hives producing the delicious, sweet honey which was once considered food of the gods.About 200 million pounds of honey is produced in the United States each year, and Mayes' business, Mackinaw Valley Apiaries Inc., averages about 24,000 pounds annually.The average American consumes about 1ΒΌ pounds of honey each year, according to the National Honey Board, an agency of the U.S. government."I started 10 years ago with one hive. Now, I have 330," said Mayes, who was an analytical chemist before he was stung by the beekeeping bug.Normal firefighter Tom Elston raises bees for his Amber Bee Co. in rural Bloomington as a way to sooth a desire to get back to the land that gripped him more than 30 years ago.

Hough could see bright future
